Name: Tennessee State UAW Community Action Program (CAP)
Description: Each year, the UAW offers competitive one-year scholarships to four graduating seniors. The intended college or university must be accredited, but there are no other restrictions.
To apply: Competition will be based on a student-written essay titled “What Organized Labor Means to Me”
Amount: 1st place-$1,200; 2nd place-$1,000; 3rd place-$600.00; 4th place-$400.

Name: Scholastic College Scholarship Writing Contest, sponsored by Citi
Eligibility: High school juniors and seniors who are enrolled in a public or accredited private school and who are legal residents of the United States
Details: Entrants will be required to write a two-page (approx. 500 words but no more than 750 words) essay in English responding to the following topic: “Tell us about a situation in which you had to use financial management to achieve a significant goal. What skills did you learn from that experience that you could use in the future?”
Amount: 2 grand prize winners = $15,000 each; 5 - $1,500; 10 - $200

Name: NAPM-East Tennessee, Inc. Scholarship
Eligibility: High school students who reside in East Tennessee and who will attend a publicly funded college in Tennessee for the academic year 2008-2009 are eligible. The student should have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and will major in business or logistics. Award of these scholarships will be based on an essay prepared by the student expressing interest in the supply management field.
Deadline: Essays must be postmarked or emailed by April 18, 2008.

Name: Tennessee Marine Family Fallen Heroes College Scholarship
Amount: $1,000

Eligibility: Applicants must be graduating seniors, honorably discharged from military service, or currently enrolled in a college or grade school with good academic standing. Students must live in the state of TN, and be planning on attending an accredited Tennessee University of Trade School full-time.
To apply: Applications in Guidance office. Must have 3 letters of Recommendation, essay written on “What is Patriotism,” letter of acceptance from institution you plan to attend, and official high school transcript.

Name: Lenoir City Utilities Board Scholarship
Eligibility: High school seniors who will be pursuing a degree in engineering or computer science. Students will need to have principal or counselor fill out a portion of the application, obtain teacher recommendations, and include a copy of their transcript.
Deadline: Application must be submitted to the Guidance Office by Friday, April 25, 2008.
Amount: One time award of $1,000 per recipient

Eligibility: Scholarships are based on merit and are available for eligible applicants who have met University of Tennessee admission requirements and plan to enroll at the University during the Fall Semester 2008 as pre-majors in the School of Art.

Eligibility: High school graduates enrolled in a full-time undergraduate curriculum at an accredited college or university by the fall term of 2008 are eligible for this rewarding program.

Name: Ned McWherter Scholars Program
Eligibility: Students must have at least a 3.5 unweighted GPA and at least a 29 ACT or the SAT equivalent. Students must attend full time at an accredited Tennessee institution. Name: Robert C. Byrd Scholarship Program
Description: This scholarship is intended to promote student excellence and to recognize outstanding students. Recipients are randomly selected from the pool of qualified applicants. Students must attend an accredited TN college/university.
Eligibility: Academic eligibility must be established one of two ways:
1. Students must have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA.
2. Students with a 3.0-3.49 GPA can present a documented composite ACT score of 24 or the SAT equivalent.

Name: Toyota Community Scholars
Description: Toyota is seeking a candidate who has a good academic record (3.0 or better GPA), is an effective leader, and has a well-documented record of service both within and outside the school setting. The student’s commitment to community service is really the focus of this scholarship.
Selection Process: KHS can nominate one student for this scholarship to compete with other students nationally. Please come by Mrs. Bruun’s office to pick up an application. The KHS nominee will be chosen on December 17, 2007.

Description: University Honors Program offers a distinctive honors curriculum. They receive a full scholarship, including tuition and fees, dorm and meal plans, a book allowance for four years, priority advising, and special trips.

Name: Smoky Mountain Regional College and Career Fair Scholarship
Details: In order to apply for this scholarship, students must attend the Smoky Mountain Regional College and Career Fair. This fair is on October 11, 2007 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Pellissippi State Hardin Valley Campus. Over 80 college representatives from around the region will be there to answer questions about admission, student life, activities, etc.
Eligibility: Student must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and be a graduating senior. University, Dual, and Technical path students may all apply!
Rules: Student must get a scholarship form from Mrs. Bruun in guidance. They must attend the college fair on October 11, 2007 and obtain 3 college/career representatives signatures while at the fair on the scholarship form. Then, the student turns in the completed form at the scholarship table at the fair. Following the fair, a drawing will be held to determine the winners. Winners will be notified before November 30th.
